Career Progression

You want more than a job. You want a stimulating work environment with the support and resources to expand your skills. You want rewarding career development possibilities that match your personal goals and drive.

PPD gives you extensive training and opportunities to further your clinical career by fostering a culture that allows people to grow and continue to advance their abilities. We want our investment in you to align with your long-term career goals, with the end result being a career progression that works for you.

As a PPD employee, you’re in the driver’s seat for your own career development. We share responsibility with you for your career progress by providing an environment that stimulates you to reach your fullest potential.

Here are a few of the ways we work with you on career development.

Getting Started

From your very first days on the job at PPD, you will be guided through a global program to develop your understanding of PPD’s mission and values. You’ll be introduced to a set of training elements focused on key company policies, such as the PPD code of conduct, and exceptional customer-aligned service. You will also receive briefings on a series of specific corporate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and working practice documents (WPDs). Based on your job function, you may receive additional training.

Career Growth and Development

PPD managers work with each team member to create a personal development plan aligned to business needs and tailored to the individual’s skills and aspirations. There are also options that allow you to explore other career tracks, broaden your experiences and enhance your career opportunities:

  • Lateral career paths and cross-functional moves
  • Challenging assignments as informal development
  • Mentoring to share knowledge and experience

Through a system of continuous feedback and dialogue called Managing for Quality Results (MFQR), you work with your managers to assess performance and plan career development.

Ongoing Education and Training
PPD supports your skill development by offering:

  • Professional development: employees receive assistance to pursue professional development goals, including professional certifications and attendance at seminars, conferences, workshops, etc
  • Educational assistance (U.S. employees only): employees receive financial assistance from PPD to pursue academic degrees that offer job-related benefits; includes undergraduate or graduate degree courses from an accredited college, university or technical/trade school
